# Account & settings

Sign in, pick your theme and chart provider, set notification preferences, and manage your plan and billing for Speed Signal AI.
Your account controls how you sign in, how the dashboard looks, how you're notified, and your subscription. This page walks through each setting and where to find it.
## What you see
Open **Settings** from the sidebar, or from **Menu** on a phone. It is a grid of cards: **Notification channels**, **Email briefs**, **Plan & billing**, **Privacy & data**, and **Feedback & feature requests**. While your preferences load, the cards show placeholders in the same shape. Changes to channels and email briefs are kept as **Unsaved changes** until you select **Save**.
## Sign in or create an account
Speed Signal AI uses a hosted sign-in provider, so you can use an email and password or a social login.
**1. Open the dashboard**
Go to [app.speedsignal.com](https://app.speedsignal.com/sign-in) and sign in.
**2. Choose email or a social login**
Enter your email to create or access your account, or continue with one of the social providers offered.
**3. Verify and you're in**
Confirm your email if prompted, and the dashboard opens on the Daily Brief.
Your account is single-user and non-transferable. To update your login details or sign out, open the account menu (your avatar) in the top corner and choose **Manage account** or **Sign out**.
## Switch between dark and light themes
By default the dashboard follows your device's light or dark setting. The theme toggle sits in the top bar; select it, or press T, to switch between dark and light. Your choice is saved in the browser you're using, so it sticks between visits on that device. Company logos that would blend into the background get a subtle outline or backing so they stay visible in both themes; the logos themselves are never recolored.
## Choose a chart provider
On any ticker's detail page, a **Chart Provider** control sits above the **Price & Volume** chart:
* **Speed Charts**: the default. It draws the published daily candles and offers **Line** and **Candles** views.
* **TradingView**: TradingView's interactive chart, which follows that provider's own data timing.
**1. Open a ticker's detail page**
Select any row on the Signal Board or Daily Brief, or search for a ticker in the top bar.
**2. Pick a provider**
Use the **Chart Provider** dropdown above the chart. Your choice is remembered in this browser. If TradingView can't load, the dashboard switches back to Speed Charts automatically.
## Set your notification preferences
In **Settings**, **Notification channels** controls how alerts reach you:
* **Email**: an on/off switch and the address alerts go to, with a **Test Email** button to confirm it works.
* **Push Notifications**: browser push on desktop and mobile, with a **Test Push** button. Push is a **Pro** feature; on Free the switch is locked, and a push preference saved earlier shows **Paused on Free**.
* **Install SpeedSignal**: adds the dashboard to this device from app.speedsignal.com when the browser allows it. Once installed, the button reads **Installed on this device**.
* **Activity history** (always on): every match is kept in Recent activity on the Alerts page, even when email or push is off.
* **One email a day** (always on): matching alerts arrive together, up to 10 alerts, highest score first. Any remaining alerts stay in Recent activity; they are not sent separately. There is at most one alert email per completed session and local day.
Enabled channels deliver when alerts are ready. There is no quiet-hours, quantity, or digest setting. Pro browser push is grouped with a separate limit of 10 events per day.
Select **Save** to apply your changes. To create the alerts themselves, see [Alerts](/dashboard/alerts).
## Email briefs and The Daily Read
In **Settings → Email briefs**, choose **Market cap**, then manage **Daily Brief** and **Weekly Brief** with their switches. The Market cap filter (All, Small, Mid, Large, or Custom) applies to candidate lists in both emails and is available on Free and Pro. It does not change the filters inside the dashboard. New preferences start with **Large** (\$10B and above); existing selections are kept. Market-wide summaries are not filtered. Brief emails are sent automatically when ready; there is no delivery-time selector.
* **Daily Brief** is a **Pro** email with research candidates by phase and market context after each completed session. On Free its switch is locked and shows **Upgrade**.
* **Weekly Brief** is sent after Friday's processing is complete. Free accounts receive the **Summary edition**; Pro receives the full edition. See [Weekly Brief](/dashboard/weekly-brief).
Free accounts can also request **The Daily Read**, a market-only email with no tickers. Its selector offers **Weekly only**, **Daily**, and **Liftoff days only**. The default is Weekly only: choosing Daily or Liftoff days and saving is your explicit opt-in. Liftoff days sends a read only when new names entered Liftoff in the completed session.
The Daily Read is an opt-in pilot that includes a weekly-only comparison group, so opting in does not guarantee immediate daily delivery. The note under the selector says whether your request is waiting, in the weekly-only group, active, or paused. Weekly Brief must remain enabled during the pilot: turning it off also stops The Daily Read, and the selector is unavailable while Weekly is off. The Daily Read's own unsubscribe link leaves Weekly unchanged.
The Daily Read contains three market-level readings and asks about Pro at most twice per week. It does not replace the full Pro Daily Brief. The [Weekly Brief](/dashboard/weekly-brief) has its own four-week editorial cycle.

> This settings example uses simulated data. A request may wait for its pilot group to open.
## Delete your account and data
Also in **Settings**, under **Privacy & data**:
* **Delete my account** permanently erases your account and all your data. Select **Delete account** and a window asks you to confirm twice, so an account is never deleted by accident:
1. **Delete your account?** The dashboard first checks your subscription and lists what happens: your account and sign-in are deleted, your subscription is canceled immediately and any remaining paid time is lost, and all your data (watchlist, alerts and alert history, preferences and notification settings) is permanently erased. Deleting does not issue a refund; to request one under the [Refund Policy](https://speedsignal.com/refund), contact support before you delete. Select **Continue**, or **Cancel** to stop. If a paid subscription is still renewing, cancel it first in **Manage billing**; the window offers that button and does not let you continue until it's canceled.
2. **Are you sure?** Type `DELETE` and select **Delete permanently** to confirm, or **Keep my account** to stop.
You're signed out afterward. This cannot be undone.

## Send feedback or contact support
The **Feedback & feature requests** card in Settings sends a message straight to the team. Choose **Feedback**, **Feature request**, or **Report a problem**, write your message, and send it.
For a question that needs a reply, select **Support** in the sidebar or menu. It opens a **Contact support** form, and the team replies by email. You can also write to [support@speedsignal.com](mailto:support@speedsignal.com).
## Plans and billing
There are two plans:

Pro comes with a **7-day free trial** (full access; cancel before day 8 to avoid a charge) and a **30-day money-back guarantee** on new subscriptions.
In **Settings → Plan & billing**, **Current plan** shows **Free** or **Pro**. On Free, choose **Upgrade · $99/mo** or **Upgrade · $990/yr**. On Pro, the card shows your renewal date, trial end date, or the date a canceled plan ends.

> Payments are processed securely by **Stripe**. **Speed Media Group LLC** is the merchant and seller of record, and charges appear on your bank or card statement as **SPEEDSIGNAL.COM**. Applicable taxes may be calculated at checkout.
Use **Manage billing** in **Settings → Plan & billing** when available, or contact [support@speedsignal.com](mailto:support@speedsignal.com) for help. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep access until then.
## Limits & common mistakes
* **Theme and chart provider are per-browser.** They're saved on the device you set them on, so a different browser or device may start with the defaults.
* **Push needs browser permission.** If push is blocked, enable notifications for the site in your browser settings, then use **Test Push** to confirm.
* **Delivery limits apply to email and push.** The in-app bell still logs every alert. Daily and Weekly Briefs are email-only; they do not create push notifications.
* **Billing is managed from Plan & billing when available.** Contact Support if you need help or want to request a refund.

# Dashboard tour

A map of every Speed Signal AI view (Daily Brief, Signal Board, Watchlist, Alerts, and the menu) plus how to read a ticker's Phase and Conviction.
This is a map of the dashboard's main views, its navigation, and how to read any single ticker. Use it to get oriented; each view has its own page with the details.
## What you see
SpeedSignal opens on **Daily Brief**. Desktop uses a sidebar grouped as **Views** (Daily Brief, Signal Board), **Market** (Overview, Top Movers, Anomalies), **Workspace** (Watchlist, Alerts), and **Resources** (Methodology, Learn, Support, Settings); you can collapse it to icons. On a phone in portrait, the bottom dock contains **Daily Brief**, **Signal Board**, **Watchlist**, **Alerts**, and **Menu**. The top bar holds ticker search, notifications, the theme toggle, and your profile.
The mobile menu uses the same destinations as the sidebar. It adapts its groups to the available space; tapping outside closes it. **Learn** asks for confirmation before opening the documentation in a new tab. Select a ticker from a list or search to open Ticker Detail; search also finds tickers that are not ranked today.
## The main tabs
These four are always one tap away. On a keyboard you can jump with **1**, **2**, **3**, and **4**. Two more shortcuts help: **/** jumps to the Signal Board and focuses its search box, and **T** toggles between the dark and light themes.
* **Daily Brief**: the home view. It summarizes the latest scan with a Market Snapshot (an overall regime read plus KPIs for New Liftoffs, Pre-Ignition Upgrades, New Coiling, and Conviction Upgrades), a Top 10 Daily Setups table, a short Signal Story, Sector Strength, and Recent Setups. Start here to see the day at a glance. See [Daily Brief](/dashboard/daily-brief).
* **Signal Board**: the screener for the 4,500+ stocks in the scan. Narrow it with quick-filter **chips** (such as New Liftoffs, Near Pivot, Quiet Accumulation, and Strong RS), a search box, and an **Advanced filters** drawer (adjustable eligibility filters and phase, tier, Conviction, and risk filters), all controlling the same sortable results table. On Free, the board shows the top 20 setups of the day; chips and search work within those 20, and Advanced filters require Pro. See [Signal Board](/dashboard/signal-board).
* **Watchlist**: the names you've saved. It starts empty; tap the **star** next to any ticker to add it, then track how its Phase and Conviction change over time. See [Watchlist](/dashboard/watchlist).
* **Alerts**: notifications you turn on. Toggle presets or build custom rules for your Watchlist, one ticker, or (on Pro) the entire market, delivered by email, push (Pro), or in-app. It starts empty too. See [Alerts](/dashboard/alerts).
## Other views
The sidebar and mobile menu provide the additional views. Ticker Detail is reached from a ticker rather than a standalone menu entry:
* **Ticker Detail**: the full page for one ticker: chart, context, and the **Overview**, **Technicals**, and **Fundamentals** sub-tabs. You usually reach it by clicking a row anywhere in the dashboard. See [Ticker Detail](/dashboard/ticker-detail).
* **Top Movers**: the session's biggest movers, with each row's Phase shown alongside. See [Top Movers](/dashboard/top-movers).
* **Anomalies**: tickers flagged for unusual behavior in the latest session (for example, a volume climax or a gap extreme). See [Anomalies](/dashboard/anomalies).
* **Overview**: a market-wide summary view. Its **Phase Distribution** ring shows Liftoff, Pre-Ignition, and Coiling. The legend, center, and tooltip percentages use only the total in those three phases. The total scanned and No Structure count are separate context, not extra slices. Select a phase in the legend to explore it in the Signal Board. **Phase Leaders** lists the top names in each phase with the same Conviction bars as the other tables; the tooltip gives the level and exact Score.
* **Methodology**: a short in-app summary of the Score, the phases, Conviction, and earnings risk, with a link to the full documentation.
* **Support**: opens a contact form; the team replies by email.
* **Settings**: your notification channels, email briefs, plan and billing, account controls (including deleting your account), and a feedback form. The theme toggle lives in the top bar, and the chart provider is chosen on a ticker's detail page, not here. See [Account & settings](/account-and-settings).

> Navigation adapts to your screen. A phone held in portrait uses the bottom dock and its **Menu**; other narrow layouts reach the extra views through the menu button in the top bar. The views are the same; only where you tap to reach them changes, so your screen may not match a screenshot exactly.
## How to read a ticker
Open any ticker (click its row) to see its full context. Every part is descriptive, meant to help you review the situation before doing your own research:
* **Phase** describes the current state of the setup: **Coiling** (the base is forming and activity is quiet), **Pre-Ignition** (signs of buying interest are showing inside the base), **Liftoff** (the most active phase: the base and buying interest are in place and the move is confirmed in the data), or **Below** (not in an active setup right now). Each active phase badge has its own icon, and tables label Below as **No Setup**. A ticker without enough trading history to be scored yet shows **Not scored yet** instead of a phase, Score, or Conviction.
* **Score** is the 0–100 number. Higher means more of the setup is in place today. In tables, the Conviction column shows three shaded bars for the relative band, with the Score beside them on the Signal Board.
* **Conviction** is the label **Low**, **Medium**, or **High**, not another number. It remains separate from Phase: a Coiling ticker can be High Conviction and a Liftoff ticker can be Low. Setup Quality is no longer displayed.
* **Risk flags** identify conditions worth a closer look, for example, **Gap Extreme**, **Volume Climax**, or **Pre-Earnings Run** (an earnings event is near). They add context; they don't change the underlying number.
* **Chart and levels** show technical reference points (such as the pivot reference) as context, not as instructions to act. The **Price & Volume** chart uses Speed Charts by default, drawn from the published daily candles; you can switch to TradingView, which follows that provider's own data timing.
The three sub-tabs organize the rest: **Overview** (the summary for that ticker), **Technicals** (price, trend, and volume data for that ticker), and **Fundamentals** (company financials).
## Limits & common mistakes
* **Two "Overview" views exist.** The **Overview** in the menu is a market-wide summary; the **Overview** sub-tab inside Ticker Detail is about one ticker. Check which one you're on.
* **The board is end-of-day.** Scores, phases, and tables reflect the last completed session, not live intraday prices.
* **A view organizes data; it doesn't recommend action.** Tabs, chips, and flags surface context for your own research.

# Alerts

Create and edit completed-session alerts for your Watchlist, one ticker, or the entire market.
**Alerts** notify you when the names or conditions you chose match completed-session data. Use a preset or build a custom rule.

> Alerts are informational notifications, not trade recommendations. Speed Signal AI is not a broker-dealer or investment adviser.
Nothing fires until you turn on a preset or create a rule. Delivery channels live in **Settings**. Enabled channels deliver when the completed-session alerts are ready.
The Alerts page has four parts, from top to bottom: **Your configured alerts**, the preset cards (grouped as **Momentum** and **Risk**), **Build a custom alert**, and **Recent activity**. On Free, the page title also shows how many of your three rules are in use.
## Read your configured alerts
**Your configured alerts** lists each rule with its scope, condition, frequency, and status, plus a count of active and total rules. A one-ticker rule shows its logo and symbol first.
Use **Edit** to load a custom rule into the builder, then **Save changes**, or **Cancel edit** to leave it unchanged. Editing preserves its On/Off state and does not create another rule. Use the switch to pause a rule or the delete button to remove it.
## Turn on a preset
Presets watch your **[Watchlist](/dashboard/watchlist)**, not the entire market. All 12 presets are available on Free, within its three-active-rule limit.
Open **Alerts**, find a preset, and turn on its switch; the card's status changes from **Off** to **Active**. An empty Watchlist has no names for presets to check. The tables below summarize each preset; its card in **Alerts** shows the exact values it uses.
### Momentum

| **Near Pivot** | The close moves to just below the pivot reference. A previously missing distance can also qualify. |
| **Pivot Reached** | The close moves from below the pivot reference to at or above it. |
| **Liftoff Confirmation** | The phase changes to Liftoff on heavier-than-usual volume. |
| **Volume Surge** | Volume jumps well above its average after a session at a normal level. |
| **Score Jump** | Score rises sharply from the prior session. |
| **Big Session Move** | The session's price change is unusually large in either direction after a quieter session. |
### Risk
| Preset | Notifies you when |

| **Phase Downgrade** | A setup moves to a weaker active phase, excluding Below. |
| **Setup Failure** | A Liftoff or Pre-Ignition setup moves to Below. |
| **Score Drop** | Score falls sharply from the prior session. |
| **Earnings Shield** | An upcoming earnings report moves into the next few market sessions. Previously missing timing can also qualify. |
| **Risk Flag Added** | A setup with no risk flags gains one or more flags. Adding another flag while flags are already present does not count for this preset. |
## Apply a ticker suggestion
Select **Set Alert** or the alert icon beside a ticker in the dashboard. Alerts opens with **One ticker** selected and its symbol visible.
The suggestion names the preset and fills in a simple rule. Read the sentence and the note explaining any differences from the preset. For example, a Liftoff custom rule checks the current phase and volume; it does not require that the phase changed to Liftoff that session.
Select **Create this alert** to save the rule shown. **Dismiss** removes the suggestion without clearing the builder. Leaving Alerts also dismisses the suggestion.
## Build a custom rule
**1. Choose what to watch**
**Watchlist** checks your saved tickers. **One ticker** checks a symbol selected from the ticker or company search. **Entire market** checks the scan and requires Pro.
**2. Optionally filter Market cap**
For Watchlist or Entire market, choose **All**, **Small**, **Mid**, **Large**, or **Custom**. Small is under $2B, Mid is $2B to under $10B, and Large is $10B or more. Custom is a minimum between $0.1B and $5000B. Missing market-cap data only passes All. This filter is not applied to One ticker.
**3. Choose the phase and measure**
**Any phase** is the default. You can choose Coiling, Pre-Ignition, Liftoff, or Below. Select a measure, comparison, and value; the unit appears beside the value.
**4. Read the preview and choose the frequency**
The sentence updates as you edit. **Once when it becomes true (recommended)** notifies when the complete rule becomes true. It can notify again after the rule becomes false and later true again. **Every session while true** can repeat for each completed session that matches.
**5. Save**
Select **Create Alert**, or **Save changes** when editing. A failed save keeps your draft for retry.

Starting values are editable examples, not recommendations. A negative session-change threshold can describe a decline: **At or below −5%**.
**Customize** uses the same simple-rule templates as ticker suggestions. The note explains what differs. Phase transitions, two-direction moves, or repeated score jumps may behave differently from their presets. Risk Flag Added is **Preset only** because risk flags are not a measure in the simple builder.
## Review Recent activity
**Recent activity** at the bottom of Alerts lists your latest matches, with pages when the list is long. Select an event to open that ticker's detail page. Use the close button on an event to dismiss it, or **Clear activity** (selected twice to confirm) to empty the list. The bell in the top bar shows the same notifications.
## Delivery and limits
* **Free allows three active rules.** The builder shows “2 of 3 alert rules in use.” At the limit, creating another opens the upgrade prompt. Pro supports more rules and Entire market scope.
* **Rules beyond Free pause.** If a Free account has more active rules than Free allows, or an Entire market rule, for example after a Pro plan ends, those rules show **Paused on Free**. They keep their settings and resume if you upgrade.
* **Tickers outside the scan are not evaluated.** A rule on a ticker that is not part of the latest scan does not fire until the ticker is back in the scan.
* **Completed sessions, not live prices.** A rule does not guarantee a match.
* **Channels follow your plan and Settings.** Both plans use in-app activity and at most one grouped email per completed session and local day. It contains up to 10 alerts, highest score first; remaining matches stay in Recent activity and are not emailed separately. Web Push requires Pro and browser permission, with a separate limit of 10 events per day.
* **There is no quiet-hours schedule.** Enabled email and push channels deliver when alerts are ready, within the delivery limits. In-app history remains available.
* **Existing rules are preserved.** An older rule with a measure unavailable in the current builder can still run or be paused. Create a new rule to use the current measures.

# Anomalies

A risk-and-opportunity lens over the daily scan: seven flags that highlight tickers behaving unusually versus the rest of the market. Flags are informational context and never change a ticker's score.
The **Anomalies** tab surfaces tickers whose behavior stands out from the rest of the day's scan. It compares each name against the whole universe and flags the ones sitting at the extremes, whether that is a risk worth knowing or an unusual strength worth a look.

Every flag here is **informational context**. Flags do **not** change a ticker's phase or Conviction; they sit alongside the score to tell you something extra about the name.
## What you see
At the top, a **Cross-sectional flags** note explains that each category describes unusual behavior relative to the current universe. Below it, seven flag cards each show the flag's name, a count of how many tickers carry that flag in the latest scan, a short label, and a one-line explanation. Under the cards, the **All Flagged Tickers** table lists every flagged ticker, ten per page, with its rank, **Ticker & Company**, **Flags**, **Phase**, **Conviction**, **Mkt Cap**, **% Chg**, **Volume**, **Change** (the phase change since the prior session), and **Action** (Watchlist star and alert bell). Select a column heading to sort.
The **Conviction** column shows three ascending bars (one shaded for Low, two for Medium, three for High) with an L, M, or H letter beside them. The level and exact Score appear on hover, focus, or tap.

> **Free and Pro.** The seven flag cards and their counts are available on every plan. The full **All Flagged Tickers** table and its **filter-by-flag** behavior are a **Pro** feature; on Free, the table area is locked and shows **Upgrade to Pro**.
## The seven flags
| Flag | What it highlights |
| - | - |
| **ATR Spike** | Volatility is unusually high compared with the ticker's own history. It does not imply a direction. |
| **Volume Climax** | Unusually heavy trading paired with limited price movement. |
| **MF Divergence** | Price and money-flow measures moved in different directions during the latest session. |
| **Sector Outlier** | The ticker's relative performance differs sharply from its sector, for example holding up while the sector is weak. |
| **Gap Extreme** | The latest session opened with an unusually large gap up or down from the prior close, often tied to news or an event. |
| **Pre-Earnings Run** | A scheduled earnings report is near while the setup's Score has changed quickly (event risk). |
| **Piotroski Mismatch** | The technical profile and the company's fundamental-quality score point in different directions. |
A single ticker can carry more than one flag at once. Some flags lean toward risk and some toward opportunity; the tab groups them together so you can see both.
## Filter by a flag
Filtering the flagged table by a card is a **Pro** feature. On Free, selecting a card shows how to unlock the full table.
**1. Tap a flag card**
Click or tap any of the seven cards to filter the table below to only the tickers carrying that flag.
**2. Clear the filter**
Tap the same card again to return to the full list of flagged tickers. The table title shows which flag is active and how many tickers match.
## How to read the results
* **Flags are context, not a score.** A flag never raises or lowers a ticker's Conviction; it is a separate note about the name.
* **Counts change daily.** The number on each card is how many tickers carry that flag in the latest scan, so it moves session to session.
* **Only scored tickers are flagged.** A ticker marked **Not scored yet** never carries an anomaly flag.
* **Some days are clean.** When no ticker carries any flag, the tab shows a **No anomalies detected** state, meaning the universe looks clean across all seven categories.
* **A flag is a prompt to look, not a verdict.** For example, a Pre-Earnings Run marks event risk to be aware of; it does not tell you to act.
## Limits and common mistakes
* **Flags do not move the phase or Conviction.** If you are ranking names, use the phase and Conviction; treat flags as side context.
* **Everything here is end-of-day.** The tab reflects the most recent completed session, not live intraday behavior.
* **"Anomaly" is one of the risk flags elsewhere too.** A name flagged here may also show an anomaly note on its [detail page](/dashboard/ticker-detail).

# Daily Brief

The home view of Speed Signal AI: what changed in today's scan of 4,500+ US stocks, from a market snapshot and the top-ranked setups to sector strength.
The **Daily Brief** is the home view. It opens by default when you sign in and answers one question: **what changed today?** Instead of the full list, it surfaces the day's market snapshot, the top-ranked setups of the session, how each sector is behaving, and more, all from the most recent completed session.

**Change** stacks phase transitions vertically: an upgrade places the new phase in green above a green upward arrow and the prior gray phase. A downgrade places the prior gray phase above a red downward arrow and the new red phase. An unchanged phase is shown as a gray = with a “No phase change” tooltip; missing comparison data is shown as a gray — without extra text or a tooltip.

The Daily Brief is organized top to bottom:
* **Market context**: a badge beside the page title that reads **Bullish**, **Neutral**, **Bearish**, or **Unknown**, with the share of scanned stocks above their own average price and the VIX level next to it.
* **Market Snapshot**: four transition counts: **New Liftoffs**, **Pre-Ignition Upgrades**, **New Coiling**, and **Conviction Upgrades**. Each card compares its count with the prior session. Each card opens the [Signal Board](/dashboard/signal-board) with the matching tickers; unavailable comparisons are not shown as zero.
* **Top 10 Daily Setups**: the session's highest-ranked names in one table, with a **Filters** panel to narrow them.
* **Signal Story**: a short narrative summary of the day.
* **Sector Strength**: which sectors are leading and lagging in the day's scan.
* **Recent Setups**: names that recently moved into a setup, tracked by their price change since then.

> Scores update **once per day, after the US market closes**. Everything you see reflects the most recent completed trading session, not live intraday prices. The default chart on a ticker's detail page (**Speed Charts**) also shows end-of-day candles; only the optional **TradingView** chart uses TradingView's own price feed.
## Read the Market Snapshot
The **market context** badge sets the backdrop. It summarizes the broad market's trend at the last close (using SPY, the S\&P 500 ETF) and lands on **Bullish**, **Neutral**, or **Bearish**, or **Unknown** when data is missing. Select its information icon for a plain-language explanation of the badge, the share of stocks above their average, and the VIX level. It describes the backdrop; it is not a forecast.
The four **Market Snapshot** cards then count what changed in the scan today. Each one shows a day-over-day delta (a percentage change versus the prior session, labeled "vs prior session") and a small trend line, so you can see the direction of travel. On the first session without a prior comparison, a card shows **First day** instead of a delta. Selecting a card jumps into the Signal Board pre-filtered to those names, with a **Daily Brief** banner showing which card you came from and a **Clear** button. On **Free**, that list shows the matching names inside the Free top 20 of the board, while the card keeps the count for the whole scan.

> A day-over-day delta describes what already happened at the last close. It is shown as a percentage change versus the prior session (for example, "▲ +25%" beside **New Liftoffs** means that count rose about 25% from the prior session). It is not a forecast.
The **Conviction** column uses three ascending bars with a green gradient: one shaded bar means Low, two Medium, and three High. A small H, M or L chip beside the icon uses the same compact shape as the Market Cap tier chips, with green for High, amber for Medium and gray for Low, on the letter only, with a neutral Market Cap-style outline and a transparent background; there is no progress bar underneath. Hover, focus, or tap the indicator to read the level and exact score; these are relative screening measurements, not probabilities of success.
## Filter the Top 10 Daily Setups
The table lists the ten highest-scored setups of the session with these columns: **Rank**, **Ticker & Company**, **Phase** (a badge with the phase icon), **Conviction**, **Mkt Cap**, **Close**, **% Chg**, **Volume**, **Change**, **Why it matters**, and **Action** (star and alert). It is sorted by Score; select the **Change** heading to sort by phase change instead. Names carrying an anomaly flag are left out of this list, and so is any row without a price bar from the latest session (for example, a company that was just acquired or halted). Those names still appear in search, Ticker Detail, and the Signal Board.
**Why It Matters** shows a compact preview. Select the arrow to read the full explanation in a centered area below its data, then select it again to close. Hover does not expand it. While open, the preview is hidden without moving the columns. If the explanation would fall outside the screen, the dashboard smoothly scrolls only enough to reveal it; otherwise it stays still. Mouse-wheel and trackpad scrolling remain native. The data row stays compact, and the explanation uses a comfortable reading width. On mobile it expands inside the card below its data. Enter or Space works on the arrow; clicking the explanation does not open Ticker Detail. Expanding does not request a new AI analysis.
Select a setup row or its logo, ticker or company to open **Ticker Detail**. A focused row also opens with Enter or Space. The star, alert button and narrative pin keep their own actions; there is no separate view icon.
**1. Open the Daily Brief**
It is the default view. If you are elsewhere, select **Daily Brief** in the sidebar (or press **1**).
**2. Open the Filters panel**
On the **Top 10 Daily Setups** table, select **Filters** to narrow the list by **Phase** (Coiling, Pre-Ignition, Liftoff), **Market cap** (All, Small, Mid, Large, or a custom minimum) and **Age** (how recently the name entered its phase). The panel starts open on Pro and closed on Free; a badge on the button shows how many filters are active, and **Clear** resets them.
**3. Go deeper in the Signal Board**
Select **View all setups** to open the full [Signal Board](/dashboard/signal-board), where you can sort, apply the themed chips, and open individual tickers. A market-cap choice made here carries over to the board.
## Read the Sector Strength card
The **Sector Strength** card lists up to six sectors, sorted by their share of names in a setup, with an **All sectors** link for the rest. Each row shows a Strong, Moderate or Weak badge for setup participation (**In setup**), a sparkline of its average score across up to five completed sessions (**5-day trend**), and its sector trend flag (**Tailwind**, shown as Yes or No). Tailwind shows whether the sector's own price trend is pointing up. A dash means the required data is unavailable or tied. The ticker count appears below each sector name; sectors with too few scanned tickers are not listed. Select the information icon for definitions, or select a sector row to open the Signal Board filtered to that sector. These are screening measurements, not price returns or predictions.

## Read the Recent Setups card
The **Recent Setups** card lists names that moved into a setup recently and tracks how their price has behaved since then. It is a look back at how earlier setups have played out, not a prompt to act on any of them.
Choose **5**, **10**, **15**, or **20** completed market sessions to select when the setup began. The card shows up to six positive changes, largest first, from the full eligible group in that window. It does not just reorder the most recent names. The same names can lead more than one window. A summary line under the title shows how many positive cycles were found out of the eligible cycles.
**Change** is the price change from the setup-start close to the latest close for an active cycle, or to the first non-setup close for a closed cycle. The selector changes the group being compared, not the calculation into a rolling return. Zero and negative changes are excluded; a small positive change can appear as **\<0.1%**. These counts describe a filtered selection, not overall performance.
Each row shows the company logo, ticker and name, the **Phase** of an active cycle (or **Closed** when the cycle has ended), the **Setup Start** date, and the **Change**. Selecting the row opens Ticker Detail.

## The Pro email edition
The emailed Daily Brief is a separate, compact edition, not a copy of the App's Top10. It includes market context, one **Setup of the day**, additional candidates by phase, sector readings, and a comparison of the previous edition's names with their current phases.
Email candidates must have a **strictly positive price change in the completed session**, with up to three Liftoff, three Pre-Ignition, and two Coiling names. These are ceilings: a quiet session can have fewer or no candidates. The App's Top10 does not adopt this email-only positive-change filter.
The highest-scoring eligible Liftoff is featured first; if none qualifies, the highest-scoring eligible name in another phase is used. Your email market-cap filter applies before selection. The previous-edition comparison describes held phases, upgrades and drops, not returns. A negative daily price change alone does not mean a name lost its phase.
Manage delivery and the market-cap filter in **Settings → Email briefs**. The email uses a light editorial layout regardless of the App theme, with one link button to the full Daily Brief. Learn about the [Weekly Brief](/dashboard/weekly-brief).
## Limits & common mistakes
* **The Daily Brief reflects one completed session.** The counts and deltas describe the most recent close, not live intraday movement.
* **A day-over-day delta is not a forecast.** Each card shows a percentage change versus the prior session (for example, "▲ +25%" beside New Liftoffs); it says nothing about what happens next.
* **The Signal Story is a plain-language recap, not a prediction.** It summarizes the day's scan; it does not tell you what to do with any name.
* **A name missing from the Top 10 can still be on the Signal Board.** Flagged names and rows without a price bar from the latest session are kept out of the Top 10 only.
* **Empty or quiet sections are normal.** On a slow session, some counts may be low or a card may hold few names. That is a description of the market, not an error.

The **Signal Board** is the full, filterable list behind the Daily Brief. Use it to explore, sort, and compare every scored ticker in the day's scan by phase, Conviction, and market cap, then open any name for its full detail.

From top to bottom, the board has four session KPI cards, a **Filters** card with the discovery chips and the **Advanced filters** button, a row of active-filter pills when any filter is on, a ticker/company search, and one sortable results table. Its columns are **Rank**, **Ticker & Company**, **Phase**, **Conviction**, **Mkt Cap**, **Close**, **% Chg**, **Volume**, **Change**, **Earnings Risk**, and **Action** (save and alert). Each Phase badge carries its phase icon; the Below phase is labeled **No Setup**. Mkt Cap shows the value with an S, M or L size badge. The logo, ticker and company form a direct link to detail; there is no separate view button. The **Conviction** column uses three ascending bars with a green gradient: one shaded bar means Low, two Medium, and three High. Hover, focus, or tap the indicator to read the level and exact score; these are relative screening measurements, not probabilities of success. The KPI counts, the Daily Brief card counts and the chip counts still reflect the whole scan. To open any other ticker, use the global search at the top of the page. On Free, the **Advanced filters** button shows a lock and a Pro badge. **Pro** shows the full ranked list (4,500+ tickers) and opens **Advanced filters**.

## The KPI row
Four cards sit at the top of the board and count how many names fall into each group in the current session:

| **Early Setups** | Names in the Pre-Ignition phase. |
| **Confirmed Breakouts** | Names in the Liftoff phase with volume behind the move. |

## Filter with the themed chips
Discovery chips sit in the **Filters** card. Selecting a chip applies its filter; selecting it again clears it. Chips can be combined: a name must match every chip you select. **All Setups** clears them.

| **Low Earnings Risk** | Names with no confirmed earnings event on the near horizon. |
To filter by Conviction level or company size, use **Conviction** and **Tier** in Advanced filters. A market-cap choice made in the Daily Brief carries over to the board as an active filter.

>
> Conviction is **relative and resets every session**. "High" means a ticker ranked among the highest relative scores of the tickers scored in that day's scan, not that it is an objectively good or recommended stock. A ticker's Conviction can change from one day to the next because the pool changed, not because the company did.
## Advanced Filters
**Advanced filters** is a **Pro** feature. The button sits in the header of the **Filters** card, next to **Clear all**, and opens the deeper controls inside the same card:
* **Phase** pills (No Setup, Coiling, Pre-Ignition, Liftoff), each with its phase icon.
* **Tier** pills (Large / Mid / Small).
* **Conviction** pills (Low / Medium / High) to keep or hide names by Conviction level.
* **Ranking**: a **Min score** and a **Top N** cap that limits the list to the highest-ranked names.
* **Risk flags** pills to review names by anomaly.
* The eligibility thresholds, each with an inline help icon (see below).
**Clear all** resets every filter. Each active filter also appears as a pill above the search field; select a pill to remove just that filter.
Search, discovery chips, and advanced controls all refine the same table. Sortable headers apply across the complete filtered list, not only the visible page; there is one pagination control.

> There is no sector control inside Advanced filters. Selecting a sector in the Daily Brief's [Sector Strength](/dashboard/daily-brief) card opens the board filtered to that sector, shown as a **Sector** pill you can remove.
## Adjust the eligibility thresholds
The universe the scan covers is described in [Data & coverage](/scores/data-coverage). On the board, names in a clearly established downtrend or with too little free float are always set aside. The thresholds below are optional: each one is **off by default**, and you switch it on in the Advanced filters drawer and set its value. Each field has an inline help icon explaining what it does:

| **Min Price \$** | Minimum stock price, to filter out very low-priced, volatile names. |
| **Min Liquidity \$M** | Minimum average daily dollar-volume, so there is enough trading activity. |
| **Min MCap \$B** | Minimum market capitalization. |
| **Max Gap Down %** | Disqualifies names that opened far below the prior close. |
| **Large-Cap Earnings Cutoff \$B** | The market-cap line that decides whether a name uses the large-cap or mid-cap pre-earnings window (it is an earnings rule, not a size filter). |
| **Mid-Cap Pre-Earnings Days** | Excludes mid-caps this many trading days before a confirmed earnings date. |
| **Large-Cap Pre-Earnings Days** | Excludes large-caps this many trading days before earnings. |
| **Post-Earnings Days** | Excludes names this many trading days after they reported. |
### Why isn't my ticker here?
If a stock you expect is missing, check these in order:
* **It is not scored yet.** A recent listing without enough trading history has a Ticker Detail page marked **Not scored yet**, but it stays out of the board, rankings and phases until it has enough history. Open it from the global search at the top of the page.
* **It ranks outside the Free top 20.** On Free, the board only lists the day's top 20; open other names from the global search.
* **A filter is narrowing the list.** A chip, the search field, a Daily Brief shortcut, a Sector pill or an Advanced filter (including a threshold you switched on) can hide it. Check the active-filter pills, or select **Clear all**.
* **It is set aside by eligibility.** Names in a clear downtrend or with too little free float do not appear on the board.
* **It carries an unusual-behavior flag.** Some flagged names stay off the default list; select a **Risk flags** pill in Advanced filters to review flagged names. See [Anomalies](/dashboard/anomalies).
* **It is outside the scanned universe**, for example an OTC stock, an ETF or another fund. See [Data & coverage](/scores/data-coverage).
Names that are not in an active setup are still listed, with the **No Setup** badge; sorted by Score, they usually sit near the bottom.
## How to read the results
* Lead with the **Phase** badge (where the setup sits) and **Conviction**, whose shaded icon shows the band and whose number shows the exact score. They are separate axes: a Coiling name can be High Conviction and a Liftoff name can be Low.
* Use the context columns in the same sortable table, such as Mkt Cap (with its size badge), % Chg, Volume, and Earnings Risk, alongside Score and Phase.
* Risk flags such as **Gap Extreme**, **Volume Climax**, or **Pre-Earnings Run** are informational; they do not change the score. See [Anomalies](/dashboard/anomalies).
* Select the **logo, ticker or company** to open the complete detail directly. Select the rest of the row to open its **preview panel** (a side panel on desktop, a bottom sheet on mobile) with what changed today, the Conviction label, the pivot reference, earnings timing, a short Signal Story and conditions to monitor. Use **"View Full Analysis"** to open the full page. Star and alert buttons keep their own actions.
## Limits & common mistakes
* **The board reflects the last completed session.** Nothing here updates intraday.
* **A high Conviction is relative to today's pool**, not a rating of the company. It can change tomorrow because the market changed, not because the stock did.
* **Thresholds narrow the list, not the scores.** Switching a threshold on hides names; it does not change any Score, Phase or Conviction.
* **Chips and advanced controls share one result list.** A Daily Brief drill-down clears the active chips; selecting a chip or opening Advanced filters clears the drill-down.

The full context for one ticker: its Phase, Score, Conviction label, risk flags, technical and fundamental readings, and a price chart, with Technicals and Fundamentals tabs.
Open any ticker to see everything the system knows about it in one place: where it sits in its setup, how it ranks today, its supporting market and company data, and a chart. Each part is descriptive context to help you review the name before doing your own research.

## What you see
The header shows the ticker's logo and symbol, its **Phase** badge (with the phase icon; the Below phase reads **No Setup**), a **Conviction** label (Low, Medium, or High), the company line (company, sector, exchange, market cap and how many days the name has been in its phase), the latest close and % change, and the **Save to Watchlist**, **Set Alert** and **Compare** buttons. Select **More** to read the company description, or **Website** to visit the company site when one is available.
The **Score** runs from 0 to 100. The Score number stays neutral; its bar uses the same Conviction band color as the tables. Setup Quality is no longer displayed. The price chart, setup summary, **Technicals**, and **Fundamentals** provide the rest of the context.
Opening a ticker starts at its company information and price, even if you were far down the previous view. This also applies when you select the same ticker again or use **Open** in Compare. Updates to a ticker already open preserve your reading position, selected data tab, and open explanation instead of returning you to the header.
The compact metric strip contains **Score** (with its change versus the prior session), **Market Cap** (with its size tier), **RS Rank** (shown out of 99), and **Earnings Risk**. Select the information icon beside any title for a plain-language explanation and the current value when available. RS Rank is available on every plan. Earnings Risk describes how close the scheduled earnings report is, not the total risk of the stock. Pivot is no longer shown in this strip; relevant reference levels remain elsewhere in the detail page.
Below the chart, **Signal Summary** lists what changed, the pivot reference, **Since pivot break** and the setup age, and **Conditions to Monitor** lists a few plain-language observations about the setup with its reference levels.

> **Overview** in the main menu describes the whole market. Ticker Detail describes one ticker; its data tabs are **Technicals** and **Fundamentals**.
## Tickers that are not scored yet
A recent listing can have a detail page before it has enough trading history to be scored. Its header shows a **Not scored yet** label instead of the Phase and Conviction badges, the Score shows a dash, and a note at the top explains why. The price, company data and chart are real. There is no Compare button or AI analysis for it, the **Technicals** tab shows a "Not scored yet" message, and **Fundamentals** still loads. The name stays out of rankings, phase counts and filters until it has enough history.
If you search for a symbol that is not in the latest scan, the page says it is outside the current scan and shows no data for it.
## Compare setups
**Compare** opens a side-by-side view with Phase, Score, Change today, Volume ×, RS Rank, Sessions active, Sector, Market cap, Close, % Chg, and Earnings risk. Change today combines the score change with a phase transition when one occurred. RS Rank is available on every plan. The comparison no longer repeats Conviction, Setup Quality, Pivot, or distance to pivot as rows. Choose the second ticker from today's scored setups with the search field, then use **Open** to go to either ticker.
The two company logos fill their header frames without extra inset padding. Their proportions are preserved, and a missing logo uses the existing fallback.
## The two data tabs
* **Technicals** arranges price and volume data in five groups: Price Structure, Squeeze & Volatility, Relative Strength, Money Flow & Accumulation, and Returns & RS Rank.
* **Fundamentals** arranges company data in three groups: Quarterly Acceleration, Earnings & Valuation, and Margins & Returns.
These readings are data for your own review. They are shown alongside the Score, not as a breakdown of how it is calculated.
Both tabs use the same layout: compact label/value pairs stacked vertically inside each group, with the values aligned. Groups sit beside each other when there is room; narrower screens use fewer columns. Select a reading for its explanation. Missing readings remain listed under **Not reported** rather than disappearing or becoming zero.

> **Free and Pro.** The header, the metric strip, the chart, the rule-based Setup context, Signal Summary and Conditions to Monitor are available for any ticker on every plan (Since pivot break keeps its Pro lock; RS Rank is included on every plan). **Generate AI Analysis**, which writes a fresh AI read of the latest end-of-day data, and the full **Technicals** and **Fundamentals** panels are **Pro** features. On Free, each data tab lists what it contains, with an **Unlock with Pro** button.
## Reference levels, not instructions
The page shows a **Pivot reference** and a **Lower reference** when their data is available, plus an **Upper reference** for Liftoff setups. They describe levels used in the screening context, not orders, price forecasts, or recommendations. Read them alongside the latest close and the conditions described on the page.

## How to read a ticker page
Read the pieces together, top to bottom:
* **Phase** describes the current state of the setup (Coiling, Pre-Ignition, Liftoff, or Below, shown as No Setup). It is a description, not an instruction.
* **Score** is the numeric setup reading from 0 to 100: a higher number means a more complete setup today. **Conviction** is its relative Low, Medium, or High band, shown as a label rather than a duplicate number.
* **Risk flags** identify conditions worth a closer look, for example an unusual gap or volume climax, or earnings coming up; they use the [anomaly labels](/dashboard/anomalies). Active flags appear in a note at the top of the page.
* **The chart and levels** show technical reference points (such as the pivot) as context for your own analysis, not as targets to act on.
The **Price & Volume** chart opens on **Speed Charts**, the default, which draws the published daily candles; switch between **Candles** and **Line** with the buttons above the chart. Use the **Chart Provider** control to switch to **TradingView**; your choice is remembered on this device. Data timing in the TradingView chart depends on TradingView. The setup metrics reflect the most recent completed session.
## Limits and common mistakes
* **Almost everything is end-of-day.** The Phase, Score, Conviction label, and readings reflect the last completed session.
* **Conviction is relative and resets daily.** A High label today does not mean the ticker is objectively good or recommended; it means it ranked near the top of that day's scan of 4,500+ names. See [Phases and Conviction](/scores/phases-and-conviction).
* **Levels are context, not calls.** The pivot and reference levels describe the setup; they are not a recommendation to enter, exit, or size a position.
* **Some fundamentals are sparse.** Coverage varies by ticker, so a few Fundamentals fields may be blank.
* **"Not scored yet" is not a low score.** It means there is not enough history to compute one yet.

A price-driven view of Speed Signal AI: the day's biggest gainers, decliners, and volume leaders, ordered by how much they moved rather than by Conviction.
**Top Movers** is a different lens on the same session. The rest of the dashboard organizes stocks by setup phase and Conviction; Top Movers ignores that and sorts purely by **how much each name moved today**. Use it to see where the day's largest price and volume changes landed.

## What you see

Top Movers shows three lists of **session leaders** for the most recent completed session:
* **Top Gainers**: the biggest price moves up.
* **Top Decliners**: the biggest price moves down.
* **Volume Leaders**: names trading at the highest volume versus their own recent average.
Each row shows its rank, the company logo, ticker and name, a **phase icon** (hover or tap it to read the phase name), a **Conviction** icon, and the move itself: the % change, or the volume multiple in Volume Leaders. Select a row to open its Ticker Detail.
The Conviction icon uses green-gradient ascending bars: one shaded bar is Low, two Medium, three High. Hover or tap the icon for the level and exact score; keyboard users receive the same description with the row. There is no score progress bar or printed score in this view.
Only names with a price bar from the latest session appear, so a company that was just acquired or halted does not lead these lists. Names that are not scored yet are not included.

> **Free and Pro.** On **Free**, each list shows the top 5, with a **Show more** button marked Pro. On **Pro**, the **Show top** selector sets how many names appear in each list (5 to 50), and a **Market cap** control narrows the lists by company size.
## Why this lens is useful
Because Top Movers is sorted by price change instead of Conviction, it surfaces names the phase-based views may rank lower. A large gainer might carry a **Gap Extreme** flag or modest Conviction on the Signal Board, yet still lead this list. Reading the two together tells you both *what moved most* and *where that move sits* in the setup life cycle.

> This view is ordered by price and volume change, not by score. A name near the top of Top Gainers is not "higher-ranked" by Speed Signal AI; it simply moved the most. For the scoring-based ranking, use the [Signal Board](/dashboard/signal-board).
## Limits & common mistakes
* **Movers reflect the last completed session**, not live prices. The list is a snapshot of the close.
* **A big move is not a phase or a Conviction level.** Top Movers measures magnitude only; the phase icon on each row comes from the separate scoring system.
* **Large moves cut both ways.** An outsized gain often means a name is extended, which is context to weigh, not a cue to act on.

# Watchlist

Track the tickers you already care about and watch how Speed Signal AI classifies them over time: phase, Score, and recent changes, all in one place.
Your **Watchlist** is where you keep the names you already follow and see how the system reclassifies them each day. Instead of hunting for a ticker in the full scan, you pin it once and the dashboard tracks its phase, Score, and context for you.
The Watchlist starts **empty**. You fill it by starring tickers anywhere they appear.
## What you see
Before you add anything, the Watchlist shows **Your watchlist is empty** with a **Browse Signal Board** button. Once you star a few names, it fills in from top to bottom:
* **Four summary cards**: **Saved Names**, **Upgrades Today**, **Near Pivot**, and **Alerts Triggered** (last 24 hours).
* **Filter tabs**: **All**, **Changed Today**, **Near Pivot**, **Liftoff**, and **Earnings Soon**.
* A toolbar with the count shown, **Refresh**, and **Add ticker** (which opens the Signal Board). On Free it also shows how many of your 10 slots are used, for example **4/10 saved**.
* The table of your tracked tickers, followed by the **Today on Your Watchlist** activity card.

## Add a ticker to your Watchlist
You can star a ticker from almost anywhere it is listed: the Signal Board, the Daily Brief, or its own detail page.
**1. Find the ticker**
Locate the name in a table (Signal Board or Daily Brief) or open its [detail page](/dashboard/ticker-detail).
**2. Click the star**
Click the star icon on its row. On a ticker's detail page, use the **Save to Watchlist** button instead; it changes to **Saved**.
**3. Confirm it saved**
The star turns amber once the name is tracked. Open the **Watchlist** tab (or press 3) to see it listed.
You can also search for any ticker in the top bar and save it from its detail page, including names that are not ranked in today's scan.
## Remove a ticker
Click the amber star again, on the ticker's Watchlist row or anywhere it appears, to untrack it. It disappears from your Watchlist right away.
## How to read your Watchlist
Each row shows **Ticker & Company**, **Phase**, **Conviction**, **Mkt Cap**, **Close**, **% Chg**, **Volume**, **Change** (the phase change since the prior session), **Last Alert**, and **Action**. Select a column heading to sort by it.
The **Phase** badge carries its own icon for Coiling, Pre-Ignition, and Liftoff; Below appears as **No Setup**. The **Conviction** column shows three ascending bars (one shaded for Low, two for Medium, three for High) with an L, M, or H letter beside them. Hover, focus, or tap the indicator to read the level and the exact Score; these are relative screening measurements, not probabilities of success.
Select a row, or its logo, ticker, or company, to open **Ticker Detail**. The row also works with Enter or Space. The **Action** column holds the Watchlist star and the alert bell, which opens [Alerts](/dashboard/alerts) with that ticker selected.
A **Today on Your Watchlist** card sits below the full-width table and lists activity from the last 7 days. Events appear in chronological reading order across three columns on wide screens, with fewer columns on smaller screens. Filter by the event types present in your list, such as upgrades, score jumps, or score drops. The card starts with nine events; **Show more** reveals nine more at a time. It answers "what changed on my list since I last looked?" without making you re-check each ticker. The table and activity use the page's normal vertical scrolling.
Each event includes its company logo and a small event indicator; select an event to open that ticker's detail page. A score drop uses a downward arrow, its label and a negative change, so it does not rely on color alone.
The first activity load is labeled **Loading**, not a zero count. Returning to Watchlist or selecting **Refresh** keeps the last loaded activity visible while it updates, along with your activity filter and expanded list. If an update fails, the card keeps the previous activity and offers **Retry**. A confirmed empty list instead says that there was no activity in the last seven days.
### Rows without a score
Some saved names have no score to show:
* **Not scored yet**: the company is in the scan but does not have enough trading history to be scored yet, for example a recent listing. Its row shows **Not scored yet** in Phase and a dash in Conviction, Volume, and Change. Close, % Chg, and Mkt Cap still show because they are real. These rows are left out of the Changed Today, Near Pivot, and Liftoff tabs and of the Upgrades Today and Near Pivot cards; Earnings Soon still includes them.
* **Not in today's universe**: the ticker is not part of the latest scan, for example after a merger or a delisting. The row reads **No fresh data**, and alerts for that ticker are not evaluated while it is outside the scan.
## Limits and common mistakes
* **Free tracks up to 10 tickers; Pro is unlimited.** On Free you can save up to 10 names, and the toolbar shows how many you have used. Adding an eleventh shows **Watchlist is full** with an option to upgrade. Pro removes the cap.
* **It is tied to your account.** Sign in to see your Watchlist; it syncs across your devices.
* **It updates once per day.** Like the rest of the dashboard, the phases and scores on your Watchlist reflect the most recent completed session after the US close, not live intraday prices.
* **Conviction is relative.** A tracked ticker's Conviction can change from one day to the next because the rest of the market scored differently that session, not because the company did. See [Phases and Conviction](/scores/phases-and-conviction).
* **The Watchlist organizes, it does not advise.** Adding a ticker tracks it for you; it is not a buy list or a recommendation to act.

# Weekly Brief

An email recap of completed sessions, phase changes and market context, with separate Free and Pro editions.
The Weekly Brief summarizes the available completed sessions of a finished market week. It is generated after Friday's close, once processing for the week's final market session is complete, and sent automatically when ready if enabled. If processing is delayed, the brief waits for the completed data. At least two sessions are required; the dates and session count are shown in the edition.

## What both editions include
Market context, first-to-last phase counts, a weekly narrative, and names that remained in Liftoff throughout every available session with a positive price change over the comparison. Company, sector, market-cap group, phase, score and session context accompany each featured name.
**Free** shows up to three of these names without their price-change percentages. It includes direction-only sector context and a summary of the additional information available with Pro.
**Pro** can show up to seven, with the observed price change from the first to the last session close. It also includes dated names moving into or leaving Liftoff, failed setups, the largest positive score changes, and numeric readings for all eligible sectors. Failure and phase-exit lists can include names whose prices fell; they are historical notices, not positive candidates.
## How to read the numbers
The **Market cap** filter in Settings applies to this week's candidate lists, including held Liftoff names, score changes and phase-transition lists. It is shared with Daily Brief. Market totals, sector context and the separate historical editorial comparisons remain market-wide or keep their original cohort. The email identifies the selected filter.
The **Week** column measures each named ticker's observed price change between two completed-session closes. It is not a strategy result. The featured held-Liftoff list deliberately excludes zero and negative changes and should not be read as overall performance.
Sector momentum is the share in Pre-Ignition or Liftoff; its change is measured in percentage points. A missing historical comparison is shown as unavailable, not zero. An empty sector section is omitted.
Tickers marked **Not scored yet** have no phase or Score to compare, so they are left out of the counts, featured names, score changes, and sector readings.
Busy editions may show fewer names to keep the email within its size limit. The number displayed and the full eligible count are stated. The underlying saved edition is unchanged; the email is an explicit sample, not a claim that no other names qualified.
## The Free four-week cycle
Free editions follow a repeating four-week editorial cycle:
1. The standard Weekly Brief.
2. The standard edition plus a separate email containing a complete saved Daily Brief from that week, when available.
3. The standard edition without a sales block.
4. A **What happened next** comparison over a fixed four-week window.
The historical comparison starts with up to five names selected by their Liftoff score at the beginning of the window, before later outcomes were known. It includes names that failed or left the scan, with then-and-now prices and phases, but no percentage returns or combined performance figure. A date outside Liftoff is the first such observation in the saved snapshots, not an invented transition date between missing snapshots. A name that is not scored in the final session shows **Not scored yet** as its current phase, with its real closing price. Missing history is stated explicitly.
The complete Daily sample uses saved session data; it is not rebuilt to select a better-looking day. It arrives separately to keep both emails readable and within their size limits.
## Delivery and appearance
Manage Weekly Brief delivery in **Settings → Email briefs**, where Free accounts see it marked **Summary edition**. The email has a fixed light editorial layout with a serif headline, monospaced numbers, company logos and one primary button. System-font fallbacks keep it readable when a mail client does not load custom fonts or images.
The email's unsubscribe link changes its email preference; it does not cancel your plan. The [Daily Brief](/dashboard/daily-brief) email is a separate Pro edition for individual completed sessions.

## Troubleshooting
> **I don't see any tickers**
>
> First, make sure you're signed in. Scores load once per day after the US close, so right after a session the newest scan may still be processing; check back a little later. If you've tightened the filters on the [Signal Board](/dashboard/signal-board), reset them to widen the results. On Free, the board works inside the day's top 20 setups, so a narrow search or chip can leave it empty. On weekends and market holidays there's no new session, so the board shows the last completed one.
> **My alert didn't arrive**
>
> Every match is kept in **Recent activity** in the app, even when email or push is off, so check there first. Then check **Settings → Notification channels**: that the channel you expected (**Email**, or **Push Notifications** on Pro) is turned on, and whether the session's grouped email has already been sent. One email carries up to 10 alerts ranked by score; additional matches remain in Recent activity. The quantity and digest mode are fixed. Pro push has a separate limit of 10 events per day, while in-app history keeps every match. For push, confirm your browser granted notification permission; for email, check your spam folder. Alerts evaluate on the daily update, not intraday. See [Alerts](/dashboard/alerts).
> **Today's data isn't showing**
>
> Scores update **once per day, after the US close**, and everything reflects the most recent completed session. If you left a tab open across the daily update, refresh the page to pull the latest scan. No new data appears on weekends or market holidays. See [Data coverage](/scores/data-coverage).
> **I can't find a specific ticker**
>
> Start with the search in the top bar: it opens the detail page of any covered ticker, on every plan. The scan covers US-listed common stocks and ADRs on NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX, and CBOE, and the [Signal Board](/dashboard/signal-board) always leaves out stocks in a clearly established downtrend or with too little free float for that session. On Pro, **Advanced filters** adds optional eligibility filters (price, daily trading activity, company size, a sharp recent gap down, and the days around earnings) that are off until you switch them on, so check whether your own filters are hiding it. On Free, the board shows the day's top 20 setups, and a match outside them is marked as ranking outside the Free top 20. A recently listed stock shows "Not scored yet" until it has enough trading history, and a stock without a price bar for the latest session (for example, after a merger or a halt) stays out of the Top 10 Daily Setups and Top Movers. Sign in and go from the Daily Brief to your first saved setup in about five minutes, using Phase badges and Conviction levels, no jargon.
This is the fastest path from signing in to reviewing your first **setup**. In about five minutes you'll open the Daily Brief, read a ticker's Phase and Conviction, narrow the Signal Board to a shortlist worth researching, and save a name to your Watchlist.

Because the scan runs after the close, you're always reviewing the most recent completed session, not a live feed. Nothing here moves tick by tick, so there's nothing to watch in real time.
## What you see
The dashboard opens on the **Daily Brief**, a summary of what changed in the latest scan. From the sidebar you can move to the Signal Board, Watchlist, and Alerts.
## Get your first win
**1. Sign in**
Go to [app.speedsignal.com](https://app.speedsignal.com/sign-in) and sign in with your email address or a social account. On your first visit you'll create an account on the Free plan, so you can start without a card.
**2. Open the Daily Brief**
The **Daily Brief** is the home view and opens by default. It answers "what changed today?" at a glance: a **Market Snapshot** (an overall regime card plus four KPI cards, **New Liftoffs**, **Pre-Ignition Upgrades**, **New Coiling**, and **Conviction Upgrades**), the **Top 10 Daily Setups** table, and a **Sector Strength** panel. Click a KPI card to open the Signal Board filtered to those names.
**3. Read a ticker's Phase and Conviction**
Every scored ticker carries a **Phase** badge (**Coiling**, **Pre-Ignition**, **Liftoff**, or **Below**, which the badge shows as **No Setup**) that describes the current state of its setup. Its **Conviction** level, **Low**, **Medium**, or **High**, shows as three shaded bars in tables (with the numeric Score beside them on the Signal Board, or an L/M/H letter elsewhere) and as a label on the ticker's detail page. These are the two things to read first: Phase tells you *what stage* the setup is in, Conviction tells you *how it ranks today*.

> Conviction is **relative and resets every session**. "High" means a ticker ranked among the highest relative scores of the tickers scored in that day's scan, not that it is an objectively good or recommended stock. A ticker's Conviction can change from one day to the next because the pool changed, not because the company did.
**4. Narrow the Signal Board to a shortlist**
Open the **Signal Board** (the full, filterable screener). Use the quick-filter **chips** to narrow the list to what you want to review. For example, tap **New Liftoffs** to see names that recently reached the Liftoff phase, or **Strong RS** to see names with a high RS Rank. You can also search for a ticker. On Pro, **Advanced filters** adds finer control (Phase, tier, Conviction, and risk-flag pills, plus adjustable eligibility filters). What's left is a shortlist to research on your own.
On Free, the board shows the day's top 20 setups by Score. That set is fixed first, so search and chips work inside those 20, and **Advanced filters** shows a Pro badge.
**5. Open a ticker for its chart and context**
Click any row to open its **preview panel** (a side panel on desktop, a bottom sheet on mobile) with the ticker's key context at a glance. From there, **View Full Analysis** opens the full **Ticker Detail** page: the Phase badge, the Score and its Conviction label, RS Rank, any risk flags, the reference levels the setup is built around, a price chart (**Speed Charts** by default, with **TradingView** as an option), and the **Technicals** and **Fundamentals** tabs (their full data is part of Pro).
**6. Save it to your Watchlist**
Tap the **star** icon next to a ticker, or **Save to Watchlist** on its detail page, to save it to your **Watchlist**. Your Watchlist starts empty (Free holds up to 10 tickers); saved names let you track phase changes and Conviction over time without hunting for them each day.
**7. Optional: create an alert**
Open **Alerts** and turn on a preset (for example, **Phase Upgrade** or **Liftoff Confirmation**) or build a custom rule for your Watchlist or one ticker. Every match is kept in the app's Recent activity; email and push (Pro) are turned on once in **Settings → Notification channels**, not per alert. Speed Signal AI notifies you after the daily update when that condition shows up, so you don't have to check manually.
## How to read what you see
Lead with the two things on screen for every ticker:
* **Phase** is a description of a state, not an instruction. "Liftoff" means the setup is at its most active stage in the data right now, not that you should act.
* **Conviction** is a separate axis from Phase. A **Coiling** ticker can be **High** Conviction, and a **Liftoff** ticker can be **Low** Conviction. On a ticker's detail page, Score is the number and Conviction is the label.
Read them together as descriptive context. **Score** is the 0–100 number: higher means more of the setup is in place today. Its bar color shows the relative **Conviction** band. They are not separate numeric readings.
## Limits & common mistakes

> * **It's end-of-day.** Everything reflects the last completed session, not live prices. Only the optional TradingView chart on a ticker's detail page uses TradingView's own price feed.
> * **Conviction is relative and resets daily.** "High" today doesn't carry over to tomorrow; the pool is re-ranked every session.
> * **A Phase badge is a label, not a call to action.** It describes what the data is doing, not what you should do with money.
> * **Empty Watchlist and Alerts are normal at first**: they fill up as you save names and turn on presets.
> * **A chip name is a filter, not a recommendation.** "Strong RS" narrows the list; it doesn't endorse those tickers.
> * **A new listing can show "Not scored yet".** Its detail page shows real price and company data, but it stays out of rankings and phases until it has enough trading history.

Speed Signal AI scans **4,500+ US-listed stocks** every trading day: common stocks and ADRs on NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX, and CBOE. This page covers where the data comes from, when it refreshes, and what makes a ticker eligible for the scan.
## When the data updates

The default chart on a ticker's detail page (**Speed Charts**) also shows end-of-day candles; only the optional **TradingView** chart uses TradingView's own price feed.
Because everything reflects the most recent completed session, the numbers you see in the morning describe yesterday's close. They do not move during the trading day.
## Where the data comes from

The scoring itself is **deterministic and rules-based** and runs on the same market data every time. It uses no AI, sentiment, or predictions.
## What you see
On Pro, the [Signal Board](/dashboard/signal-board) **Advanced filters** drawer holds the optional eligibility filters below, each with an on/off switch and inline help. On Free, **Advanced filters** shows a Pro badge.
## Eligibility filters
The Signal Board uses coverage filters to stay focused on stocks where a setup reading is meaningful. Two always apply; the others are optional filters you can switch on in Advanced filters (Pro). They are off by default.

## Why isn't my ticker here?
If a name you follow does not appear in the scan, it usually falls into one of these buckets:
* **Try the search in the top bar first.** It opens the detail page of any covered ticker on every plan, even when the Signal Board doesn't list it.
* **It's outside the covered universe.** The scan covers common stocks and ADRs listed on NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX, and CBOE. OTC names, SPACs, ETFs and other funds, and preferred shares are not scanned. When a company has more than one share class, only its most actively traded class is included, and a stock that closed at a very low price is left out of that session's scan.
* **It has a short trading history.** Scoring needs a substantial stretch of daily trading history. A recent listing still has its ticker detail page, marked **Not scored yet**, with its real price, company data, and chart, but it does not enter rankings, phases, or filters until it has enough history.
* **It has no price bar for the latest session.** A company that was just merged or halted can keep its last published reading with its own date. It stays searchable and on the Signal Board, but it is left out of the **Top 10 Daily Setups** and **Top Movers**.
* **It didn't pass an eligibility filter.** A clear downtrend or a low free float keeps a ticker off the Signal Board for that day. On Pro, any optional filter you switched on (price, liquidity, market cap, gap down, or an earnings window) can hide it too.
* **You're on the Free plan.** The Signal Board shows the day's top 20 setups by Score. That set is fixed before any filter, so a match outside it is marked as ranking outside the Free top 20.
* **It's in the Below phase.** It is not in an active setup phase right now, so it ranks low and may not surface in views that focus on active phases. On the Signal Board, search for it by symbol; on Pro, the **No Setup** Phase pill (the label the Below phase uses in the dashboard) in Advanced filters shows only these names.

> On Pro, switching an optional filter off, or loosening it (for example, lowering the market-cap floor), brings more tickers back into the list. **Clear all** resets every filter at once.
## Limitations
* Numbers reflect **end-of-day** data; intraday moves are not captured.
* Historical numbers may differ from live ones because of **data revisions**.
* **Earnings-date availability varies** by ticker.
* **Small-cap stocks can behave differently** from larger companies; the board treats that context separately where relevant.
* The model is **optimized for daily-timeframe breakout detection**, not other styles or timeframes.

Every term below matches a label you'll see in the app. Definitions describe what the tool measures or shows, not what to do with your money.
## Alert
An optional notification the app sends when the dashboard changes for the tickers or conditions you chose. Every match is kept in the app's Recent activity; email and push (Pro) are channels you turn on in Settings, and they deliver after the daily update. They are informational, not trade recommendations. See [Alerts](/dashboard/alerts).
## Anomaly
Unusual behavior in the latest completed session, surfaced in the Anomalies view. The app labels seven kinds: **ATR Spike**, **Volume Climax**, **MF Divergence**, **Sector Outlier**, **Gap Extreme**, **Pre-Earnings Run**, and **Piotroski Mismatch**. The same labels appear as [risk flags](#risk-flag) on a ticker. They are context flags, not scores. See [Anomalies](/dashboard/anomalies).
## Below
A [Phase](#phase) label meaning a ticker is not in any active setup phase right now; most of the scan sits here on any given day. In the dashboard, this phase's badge reads **"No Setup"**.
## Coiling
A [Phase](#phase) label meaning a quiet, orderly base is forming: price swings have narrowed and trading is calm. An early stage.
## Conviction
How a ticker's [Score](#score) ranks against the rest of the scan in the same session, grouped as **Low**, **Medium**, or **High**. The tables show this band as three shaded bars; Ticker Detail also shows the label. It is not a second numeric score. See [Phases & Conviction](/scores/phases-and-conviction).
## Daily Brief
The home view of the dashboard. It opens with a **Market Snapshot** (an overall regime read plus four clickable KPIs: New Liftoffs, Pre-Ignition Upgrades, New Coiling, and Conviction Upgrades), then a **Top 10 Daily Setups** table, a short **Signal Story** summary, **Sector Strength**, and a **Recent Setups** list. ## Eligibility
The coverage filters the Signal Board uses to stay focused on meaningful setups. A clear downtrend or a low free float always keeps a ticker off the board; filters for price, liquidity, company size, large gaps down, and the days around earnings are optional and can be switched on in the Signal Board's Advanced filters drawer (Pro). ## Liftoff
A [Phase](#phase) label for the most advanced active phase: the base and buying interest are in place, and a qualifying move confirms it.
## Not scored yet
The label on a covered ticker that does not have enough trading history to be scored yet, usually a recent listing. Its detail page shows its real price, company data, and chart, with a dash instead of a Score, Phase, or Conviction. It stays out of rankings, phase counts, and filters until it has enough history.
## Phase
The label that describes where a ticker sits in the life cycle of a breakout setup. Every scored ticker has exactly one, shown as a badge; the three active phases each carry their own icon:
* **Coiling**: a quiet, orderly base is forming; an early stage.
* **Pre-Ignition**: signs of buying interest becoming visible inside the base.
* **Liftoff**: the most advanced active phase; the base and buying interest are in place and a qualifying move confirms it.
* **Below**: not in any active setup phase right now (its badge reads **No Setup**).
Phase is a separate axis from [Conviction](#conviction). See [Phases & Conviction](/scores/phases-and-conviction).
## Pillar
One of the three angles the [Score](#score) looks at: **Base "Stealth Coil"** (is a quiet, orderly base forming?), **Accumulation "Demand Profile"** (are there signs of steady buying interest?), and **Ignition "Participation Expansion"** (is trading activity picking up?). The Score brings the three together into one number. See [Reading the Score](/scores/how-scoring-works).
## Pivot
The price area a setup is built around, shown on a ticker's detail page as the **Pivot reference**. It is descriptive context for your own analysis, not an instruction to buy, sell, or place an order.
## Pre-Ignition
A [Phase](#phase) label meaning signs of buying interest are becoming visible inside the base. The setup is maturing.
## Reference levels
Descriptive price points shown the same way for every ticker so setups can be read on a common footing: the **Pivot reference**, the **Lower reference** (a recent lower structure level), and, for tickers in Liftoff, the **Upper reference**. They describe the structure of the tracked pattern and are reference data only, not stop-loss orders, price forecasts, entry or exit points, or a recommendation to act. ## Risk flag
A context label that highlights unusual behavior worth knowing, for example **Pre-Earnings Run** or **Gap Extreme**. A ticker's active flags appear in a note at the top of its detail page and can be filtered in the Signal Board's Advanced filters; they use the seven [Anomaly](#anomaly) labels. Risk flags do not change the Score or the Phase; they add context to read alongside them. See [Phases & Conviction](/scores/phases-and-conviction).
## RS Rank
A 0–99 rank of how a stock's price has performed relative to every other stock in the scan. Higher means stronger past performance relative to that group. It describes the past, not a forecast, and it is separate from the [Score](#score). You see it on the ticker detail page and in Compare on every plan, and the **Strong RS** chip on the Signal Board narrows the list to names with a high RS Rank.
## Score
The 0–100 number on every scored ticker. It summarizes how complete the tracked breakout-setup profile looks as of the latest completed session: higher means more of the profile is present today. It is descriptive, not a probability, a price forecast, or a quality grade. In tables, its bar color shows the [Conviction](#conviction) band. See [Reading the Score](/scores/how-scoring-works).
## Sector Strength
A section of the Daily Brief that shows how the market's sectors are performing relative to each other, as context for where setups are clustering. See [Daily Brief](/dashboard/daily-brief).
## Setup
A recurring technical pattern where a stock has been quietly compressing and then starts to expand. Speed Signal AI organizes tickers by the state of their setup. A setup is context to research, not a forecast that a move will continue.
## Signal
Part of the product name and of feature names such as the Signal Board and Signal Story. It does not describe a trading signal: a ticker the board surfaces is a screening result and a research candidate, not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold.
## Watchlist
Your personal list of tickers to track over time. It starts empty; you add the names you want to follow, and the app shows how it classifies them each day. See [Watchlist](/dashboard/watchlist).

What the 0–100 Score on every ticker in Speed Signal AI shows, the three ideas it brings together (Base, Accumulation, and Ignition), and how to read it alongside Phase and Conviction.
Every ticker in the daily scan carries a **Score** from 0 to 100. It summarizes how complete the tracked breakout-setup profile looks as of the latest completed session: the higher the number, the more of that profile is present today. It is rules-based and reproducible, not an AI opinion.

## What you see

Where you meet the Score in the app:
* **On a ticker's detail page**, **Score** is the number; **Conviction** is the Low, Medium, or High label next to it.
* **In tables**, the **Conviction** column shows three shaded bars for the band. The Signal Board adds the numeric Score beside them; other tables add an L/M/H letter. In Ticker Detail, Score is shown with a bar whose color shows the band.
* **Every row also carries a Phase badge** (Coiling, Pre-Ignition, Liftoff, or Below, shown as No Setup), which is a separate label. See [Phases & Conviction](/scores/phases-and-conviction).
* **A ticker without enough trading history** shows **Not scored yet** and a dash instead of a Score. It stays out of rankings until it has enough history. See [Data & coverage](/scores/data-coverage).
## What the Score brings together
The Score looks at a setup from three angles, called **pillars**. Each one asks a different question about how the stock has been trading:

| **Accumulation** ("Demand Profile") | Does the base show signs of steady buying interest, rather than a one-day spike? |
| **Ignition** ("Participation Expansion") | Is the move starting: is trading activity picking up versus the stock's normal level? |
A stock can look strong from one angle and weak from another. The Score brings the three together into one number so you can compare setups at a glance. A high Score means the picture looks complete across all three; a middling Score usually means one or two of the pieces are still missing.

## Find a ticker's Score
**1. Open a ticker**
From the [Signal Board](/dashboard/signal-board) or [Daily Brief](/dashboard/daily-brief), select any ticker to open its [detail page](/dashboard/ticker-detail).
**2. Read the Score**
The **Low / Medium / High** Conviction label sits next to the Phase badge at the top of the page, and the **Score** number leads the metric strip below it, with its change versus the prior session.
**3. Explore the ticker's data**
On Pro, the **Technicals** and **Fundamentals** sub-tabs show market and company data for the ticker as reference for your own research. On Free, the same sub-tabs show what each one contains.
## How to read the Score
* **Higher means a more complete setup**, not that a stock is "good" or that a move will happen. It is a summary of what the data looks like right now.
* **Watch how it moves.** The Score updates once per session as conditions appear and fade. A change from one day to the next often tells you more than a single reading; [Compare](/dashboard/ticker-detail#compare-setups) shows each ticker's change today.
* **Score and Conviction answer different questions.** The Score describes the ticker on its own terms. Conviction (Low, Medium, or High) shows how that Score ranks against the rest of the scan that same day. A high Score does not guarantee a High level, because the level depends on how everything else scored. See [Phases & Conviction](/scores/phases-and-conviction).
* **Score and Phase are separate too.** The Phase describes which stage of the setup life cycle a ticker is in; it is not a conversion of the Score. Read the two together.
* **It is reproducible.** Given the same market data, the app produces the same Score every time. There is no sentiment analysis or subjective judgment involved.
## Limits & common mistakes

> A high Score is context to research, not a measure of how good a position would be. The app does not know your goals, timeframe, or risk, and it never suggests what to do with money.
* **Do not read the Score as a prediction.** It describes present conditions, not a forecast that a move will continue.
* **Do not compare Scores across different days as if they were fixed grades.** Scores update once per day and can shift with data revisions. See [Data & coverage](/scores/data-coverage).
* **A high Score can still carry risk flags** (for example, Pre-Earnings Run or Gap Extreme). Those do not change the Score; they add context to read alongside it.

# Phases & Conviction

The four phase labels (Coiling, Pre-Ignition, Liftoff, and Below), the Low/Medium/High Conviction levels, and the risk flags that add context in Speed Signal AI.
Every ticker carries two labels that describe its setup: a **Phase** (where it sits in the life cycle of a breakout setup) and a **Conviction** level (how it ranks against the market that day). They are separate axes, so read them together.

## What you see
* The **Phase** badge appears on every scored row and on the ticker detail page: **Coiling**, **Pre-Ignition**, **Liftoff**, or **Below** (shown as **No Setup**). Each active phase has its own icon on the badge, so you can tell them apart at a glance.
* **Conviction** is the relative **Low**, **Medium**, or **High** label. Tables show the band as three shaded bars (one, two, or three filled); the Signal Board adds the numeric Score beside them and other tables add an L/M/H letter. Ticker Detail also shows the label next to the Phase badge.
* A ticker that is **Not scored yet** shows that label instead of a Phase badge and a Conviction label.
## The four phases
A phase describes the current state of a ticker's setup. It is a description, not an instruction.
| Phase | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Coiling** | A quiet, orderly base is forming: price swings have narrowed and trading is calm. An early stage. |
| **Pre-Ignition** | Signs of buying interest are becoming visible inside the base. The setup is maturing. |
| **Liftoff** | The most advanced active phase: the base and buying interest are in place, and a qualifying move confirms it. |
| **Below** | Not in any active setup phase right now. Most of the scan sits here on any given day. In the dashboard, this phase's badge reads **No Setup**. |
A phase describes an ongoing state, so a ticker can hold the same phase for several sessions. **Setup age** on the ticker detail page shows how long it has been there, and the [Daily Brief](/dashboard/daily-brief) highlights the tickers that changed phase since the prior session.

> A phase is a state, not a step to take. "Liftoff" means the setup looks aligned in the data, not that anything should be done about it.
## Conviction (Low / Medium / High)
Inside every phase, Conviction adds a second dimension. It reflects **how a ticker's 0–100 Score ranks against the rest of the scan that same session**. High is reserved for the highest relative Scores of the day.

> Conviction is **relative and resets every session**. "High" means a ticker ranked among the highest relative scores of the tickers scored in that day's scan, not that it is an objectively good or recommended stock. A ticker's Conviction can change from one day to the next because the pool changed, not because the company did.
## Phase and Conviction are separate axes
This is the part people most often get wrong. Phase and Conviction answer different questions and do not move together:
* A **Coiling** ticker can be **High** Conviction.
* A **Liftoff** ticker can be **Low** Conviction.
Phase says *where in the setup life cycle* a ticker sits. Conviction says *how it ranks today* against everything else that was scanned. Read the pair, not either one alone, and remember Conviction can change from one day to the next because the pool changed, not because the company did.
## Risk flags (informational)
Some tickers carry context flags. They **do not change the Score or the Phase**; they surface unusual behavior worth knowing before you research a name. A ticker's active flags appear in a note at the top of its detail page, and the [Anomalies](/dashboard/anomalies) view groups them across the market. The app uses seven labels:
* **ATR Spike**: volatility is unusually high versus the ticker's own history.
* **Volume Climax**: participation is unusually high while price movement is limited.
* **MF Divergence**: price and money-flow measures moved in different directions in the latest session.
* **Sector Outlier**: the ticker's relative performance differs sharply from its sector.
* **Gap Extreme**: the latest session opened with an unusually large gap from the prior close.
* **Pre-Earnings Run**: a scheduled earnings event is near while the setup has changed quickly.
* **Piotroski Mismatch**: the technical profile and the available fundamental-quality score point in different directions.
A ticker with an active flag stays on the Signal Board but is left out of the **Top 10 Daily Setups** on the Daily Brief. Market-wide context, such as the overall regime and the VIX level, appears in the Daily Brief's Market Snapshot and does not change any ticker's Score.
## Limits & common mistakes
* **Do not treat "Liftoff" as better than "Coiling."** They describe different stages, not a ranking of quality. A Coiling name can rank higher today than a Liftoff name.
* **Do not treat "High Conviction" as a fixed grade.** It is relative to one session and resets daily. The same ticker can be High one day and Medium the next with no change to the company.
* **Risk flags are context, not scores.** A High Conviction ticker can still be flagged Gap Extreme or Pre-Earnings Run at the same time.
